Swirling and settling glitter is mesmerizing! It’s unpredictable how it will settle and we can’t help but watch what happens. This is a proven method that has been used in hospitals for years by nurses to help distract children in procedures. In addition to using glitter, we cased it in a sphere to keep the glitter circulating. It takes approximately one minute and fifteen seconds for all of the glitter to fall to the bottom of the ball. This is enough time in many situations for a child to be able to take what we like to call a “positive pause” and come back to the situation in a calmer state.
